Well, this is it, my last post.
I'm in the process of creating a new blog as we speak. This new project will include all of my interests, as well as my usual thoughts and rants.
I want this new blog to be the foundation of something bigger, something greater, a place that truly represents every aspect of the creative life, and to connect with those who share the same path.
For updates on the new site, follow me on Twitter,
Before I leave, here's a glimpse of where the new site is headed:
"Multipotentiality is an educational and psychological term referring to the ability of a person, particularly one of intellectual or artistic curiosity, to excel in two or more different fields. It can also refer to an individual whose interests span multiple fields or areas, rather than being strong in just one. Such individuals are called "multipotentialites." On the contrary, those whose interests lie mostly within a single field are called "specialists."
While the term multipotentialite can be used interchangeably with polymath or Renaissance Person, the terms are not identical. One need not be an expert in any particular field to be a multipotentialite. Other terms used to refer to multipotentialites are scanners, slashers, and multipods, among others." - Wikipedia
Peace.
Stay creative.
See you on the other side.

The Non-existent Social Life
If you follow me on Twitter, then you've seen The Non-existent Social Life, or TNSL, mentioned at some point. Sometimes I post esoteric phrases that make sense only to me, because I think a lot, sometimes too much, way too much. Typical life of an introvert.
The Non-existent Social Life is about dedication to a interest or interests that take up most of your social time, almost to the point of isolation. This can be seen as a good thing or a bad thing, depending on your perspective.
The idea came to me one day while I was reminiscing about high school. It all started with a girl, as most stories do. I was 14 and she was 16, yeah, you can see where this is headed. After many failed attempts of trying to make my girlfriend, I got fed up and stopped pursuing her. One day, while I was alone, I was cursing at myself about how much time was wasted on this girl and vowed to never let it happen again. From that day forward, art and making beats were the only things that consumed my days. If I was a "normal" teenager doing "normal" teenage things, I wouldn't be the man I am today. I made a decision to be what a regular high schooler wouldn't dare to be, and that's sacrificing a large chunk of my social life for the bigger picture. A decision that benefited me well over the years and continues to do so.
What are you willing to sacrifice for the bigger picture in your life?

My Take On First Impressions
You can meet an asshole on a good day, you can meet a pleasant person on a bad day. Basically, first impressions are BS.

The Generation of Selfie
I was searching through YouTube and saw this on the sidebar.
As I was watching this, a chilling thought entered my mind, these people are going to run the country in the near future. Let that sink in for a moment.
For the love of God, run!!!

Quick Update
What's up party people? I hope the new year is treating you well so far.
Here's a quick summery of what I've been up to.
I'm putting the finishing touches on Sto's debut album, Conversations With Myself, on his Last Lyricist Music label. This is shaping up to be a really solid album. Sto is a very talented emcee with a bright future in Hip-Hop, he's only going to get better.
I'm also finishing up my group's (The Earvaders) 4th album, Agents of S.Q.U.A.R.E., which drops in May of this year.
Finally, I'm preparing to move from New Jersey to Pennsylvania in about 2 months. I love Jersey with all of my heart, but the cost of living is too expensive. It's been a frustrating four years job wise and it's time for a new start. New location, new opportunities, and less stress.
Let the adventures begin!

Back In Effect!
Well, it's been awhile, but I'm back and ready to rant.
This post is going to be short, so let's get on with the updates.
I've been busy recording for my group, The Earvaders' 4th album, Agents of SQUARE. We're in the final stages of mixing and planning to release it around fall or winter 2013. Agents of SQUARE, production wise, will be more simplistic and not as crazy as Immortal Landscape was. This album will explain what a Square is and why we embraced it.
I'll also be working on production for another project called Conversations With Myself with a talented Ohio MC, Sto. This will be our first time working together, since I rarely collab with other artists, this should be interesting challenge. So be on the lookout for that before the end of the year.
That's it for now, so until next week,
Stay Creative.

A Hater and Proud of It.
Ahhh yes, the Hater, we're all familiar with the term. You may have been accused of being one some point in your life.
What is a hater?
Here's what it used to mean:
"A person that simply cannot be happy for another person's success. So rather than be happy they make a point of exposing a flaw in that person.
ex:
Susan: You know, Kevin from accounting is doing very well. He just bought a house in a very nice part of town.
Jane (hater): If he is doing so well why does he drive that '89 Taurus." - Urban Dictionary | |||
I have standards and I'm sticking to them. If anyone calls you a Hater because of your standards, look at them square in the eye, smile and say thank you.

The Repetition of Words
"Stuttering is a speech disorder in which sounds, syllables, or words are repeated or last longer than normal. These problems cause a break in the flow of speech (called disfluency)." - National Library of Medicine
I am a stutterer. It's not as bad as it used to be, but it appears every now and then. For some unexplained reason, it kind of just faded away over the years.
Stuttering is a very frustrating experience, especially in my younger years. Reading out loud in class was the worst. Imagine being in class and it's your turn to read, the deafening silence would fill the room as I painfully try to finish a paragraph. Time slowed to a crawl. It felt like I was naked and everyone was staring. I still get nervous reminiscing about those days. Strangely enough, I was never picked on for having this impediment. It's weird because kids are really brutal at that age when someone is different in any way. I came to the conclusion that my artistic talent held the teasing at bay. I could do what other kids in my class couldn't, and that was draw really well. Most people aren't that lucky. Without my artistic ability, I definitely would've gotten teased without a doubt.
Important Note:
If you know a stutterer, be it family, friend or co-worker, here's what you don't do:
Helping to finish what they're trying to say. We know you mean well, we really do, but it just frustrates the person more and the stammer gets worse. Let them finish at their own pace.

Are You An Introvert too?
"Introverts are drained by social encounters and energized by solitary, often creative pursuits. Their disposition is frequently misconstrued as shyness, social phobia or even avoidant personality disorder, but many introverts socialize easily; they just strongly prefer not to. In fact, the self-styled introvert can be more empathic and interpersonally connected than his or her outgoing counterparts." - Psychology Today
For as long as I can remember, I've always been the solitary observer type, always in my head thinking, analyzing, and daydreaming. Being an only child, I had to create an inner world to entertain myself. It was about 3 years ago when I discovered an article about introversion. The more I read about this personality trait, everything started to make sense.
I've never felt the need to fit in and be more outgoing. When I was younger, and sometimes now, it always annoyed me when people tried to "break me out of my shell", no matter what they did, I wouldn't budge. If you ever gotten the "you're so quiet, is everything alright?" question, then you know exactly what I'm talking about. I like my quiet demeanor.
As a producer, my introversion has helped me musically evolve over the years. Making a beat is both creative and analytical, taking extreme focus to get the desired result that's in my head, and that can take hours, even days until it's done.
Introverts aren't shy, unconfident, or possible serial killers, and no, we don't hate you for being outgoing.
Embrace the quiet.

Life, Music & Superheroes.
Have you ever sat and wondered what type of music your favorite comicbook characters would listen to?
For an example I'll use the most recognized characters of all time, Superman and Batman.
Let's get started!
Superman/Clark Kent: Growing up in Smallville, Kansas, I see Clark listening to Country Music, 70's Southern Rock (Lynyrd Skynyrd, Allman Brothers Band etc.), and maybe either The Beatles or Led Zeppelin. Imagine teenage Clark and Pa Kent fixing on an old truck on a hot Kansas day, while The Allman Brothers', Ramblin' Man, echoes off the barn walls. He enjoys music, but doesn't consider himself a music buff. I don't see him listening to any of the current bands that fill the airwaves today. Clark's music collection is small, but classic.
Batman/Bruce Wayne: Now Bruce is a tricky one. I would like to think he enjoys music recreationally, but we know better than that. He's Batman! He doesn't have time to enjoy life like normal people would. If he does listen to music, it would be for a purpose, not for enjoyment. I'm trying to imagine what tunes Bruce would be playing in his black Aston Martin. I'm stumped. No really, I'm drawing a blank here! I just have this image of being in Wayne Manor and hearing either Dick (Nightwing), Tim (Red Robin) or Damian (Robin) blasting rock music out of their rooms while Bruce occupies the Bat Cave. Hey, that's what happens when you dedicate your life to a single unending purpose.
So, tell me what type of music your favorite fictional characters would listen to. (it's not just limited to comicbooks either)

Are You Blessed With Night Owlism?
"A night owl or evening person is a person who tends to stay up until late at night. Usually, people who are night owls stay awake past midnight and extreme night owls may stay awake until just before or after dawn. Night owls tend to feel most energetic just before they go to sleep at night." - Wikipedia
The silence of night, what a beautiful sound.
I've been a night owl for most of my life, it started around grammar school watching Yo! MTV Raps late on Friday nights. On the weekends, Dock June would come over my house to play video games, listen to Hip-hop, and watch whatever movie we rented from Blockbuster (VHS). Everything was going well until 11pm hit. I would look over and see June's head nodding trying to fight sleep, the next thing I heard was snoring. This happened often, but that's the reality, not everyone can do what us nocturnals can do.
When I'm up late, I'm amazed how peaceful it can be outside. You're not bombarded with the hustle and bustle of life, everything slows down. During the day, I'm a zombie, no energy at all. It takes me an hour to fully wake up in the morning. I don't see how some people are so peppy in the morning, it's annoying.
Writing this blog, making beats, thinking, planning my next move in life seem to emerge at night. That's why Batman is one of my favorite characters. I love being a Night Owl and wouldn't have it any other way.

My fear is Acrophobia.
"Acrophobia - is an extreme or irrational fear of heights.
Acrophobia sufferers can experience a panic attack in high places." - Wikipedia
It may be an irrational fear to you, but it's not to me.
I've suffered with Acrophobia for as long as I can remember. How it started is still a mystery to me. All I know is that being in high places freak me out. My body locks up, a cold chill travels up my spine, breathing is shallow and rapid, and a light dizziness fills my head. Paralyzing is the best description.
One day, during an 8th grade class trip to Great Adventure, I decided to face my fear and ride a roller coaster. I still get chills thinking about that day. After the ride was over, I've never felt so scared in my life. My phobia had gotten worse! How could this be?! I looked fear dead in its eye and the SOB kicked me square in the balls! Now that I'm older, I realized that smaller steps should've been taken to eliminate my fear, instead of jumping in head first.
Society tells us to face our fears, and I did, too bad it didn't work. Some fears are stronger than others, some take longer to overcome. Maybe I'll try again someday, until then, my feet stay on solid ground.
Now you know my fear, what's yours? Did you conquer it or do you still suffer?

You vs You.
Being your own worst critic, most of us creative types have this mentality, especially if you're an introvert.
It's like no matter what you do, your creations will never be good enough. Sure you get plenty of compliments, but all you see and hear are the flaws. All you can see is what you could've done better. It's maddening! I can never just sit down and enjoy the final product, if I do, it's only for a day or two before my inner critic starts sqwaking. I'm actually nervous about people hearing my music because of this. It takes a lot of energy to push past the fear. It will never go away.
There is an upside to listening to the inner critic, it keeps you humble. Having this mindset keeps the ego in check. There's always room for improvement, never let go of that.
So, are you your own worst critic?

If you're looking for a blog to improve your life, you've come to the wrong place. This will be a place for music, thoughts, and random things I may find. What can I say, I'm a musician, not a blogger. Let the mundane rants begin!
