The Non-existent Social Life

If you follow me on Twitter, then you've seen The Non-existent Social Life, or TNSL, mentioned at some point.  Sometimes I post esoteric phrases that make sense only to me, because I think a lot, sometimes too much, way too much.  Typical life of an introvert.

The Non-existent Social Life is about dedication to a interest or interests that take up most of your social time, almost to the point of isolation.  This can be seen as a good thing or a bad thing, depending on your perspective.

The idea came to me one day while I was reminiscing about high school.  It all started with a girl, as most stories do.  I was 14 and she was 16, yeah, you can see where this is headed.  After many failed attempts of trying to make my girlfriend, I got fed up and stopped pursuing her.  One day, while I was alone, I was cursing at myself about how much time was wasted on this girl and vowed to never let it happen again.  From that day forward, art and making beats were the only things that consumed my days.  If I was a "normal" teenager doing "normal" teenage things, I wouldn't be the man I am today.  I made a decision to be what a regular high schooler wouldn't dare to be, and that's sacrificing a large chunk of my social life for the bigger picture.  A decision that benefited me well over the years and continues to do so.

What are you willing to sacrifice for the bigger picture in your life?
