A Hater and Proud of It.

Ahhh yes, the Hater, we're all familiar with the term.  You may have been accused of being one some point in your life.

What is a hater?

Here's what it used to mean:

"A person that simply cannot be happy for another person's success. So rather than be happy they make a point of exposing a flaw in that person.
ex:
Susan: You know, Kevin from accounting is doing very well. He just bought a house in a very nice part of town.

Jane (hater): If he is doing so well why does he drive that '89 Taurus." - Urban Dictionary

The definition of hater has changed over the years.  It now means to have an opinion that goes against a popular person or trend, no matter how stupid it is at the time.  It's mostly used and abused in Hip-hop culture.  This has helped the cancer of mediocrity grow in Hip-hop music.  Gone are the days of having standards and expecting better material from artists.  Now, if you go against the herd, you'll be branded with the flattering title of Hater.  And you what?  I'm fine with that.

I have standards and I'm sticking to them.  If anyone calls you a Hater because of your standards, look at them square in the eye, smile and say thank you.

  1. I guess that makes me a hater of all haters, because I love underground hip hop. #PROUD
